About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in Public and Nonprofit Administration at the University of Memphis. I received my Ph.D. in Public Policy from Duke University in 2017. I also hold an M.A. in Economics (Duke), an M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management (IUPUI), and an M.A. in Philanthropic Studies (IUPUI). Prior to joining academia, I worked as a consultant to nonprofit organizations, specializing in fundraising, board development, and strategic planning with The Alford Group in Chicago, Illinois.

My primary research field is applied microeconomics, with a focus on the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, and industrial organization. My research agenda focuses on market structure and competition in the nonprofit context. The nonprofit sector in the United States has experienced dramatic growth in the past two decades. My current work explores how this growth affects competition among nonprofits, nonprofit organization behavior, and philanthropic giving. I also conduct experiments to understand how new giving options affect donor decisionmaking.
